Several members have asked how the August Bank Holiday works under the new 10 On – 4 Off pattern. Here is the clear answer.
If you WORK on the Bank Holiday
You will be paid at the appropriate overtime rate. The Bank Holiday entitlement goes into your holiday pot.
If the Bank Holiday falls on your REST day
The Bank Holiday entitlement still goes into your holiday pot.
These will be held for Christmas.
Two more additional annual leave days will also be held for Christmas.
Unless you want to take payment instead, you will need to save your holidays.
Team 1 vs Team 2 on 31 August 2026
- Team 1: 31 August is a rest/down day → entitlement goes into pot (day in lieu)
- Team 2: 31 August is a working day → paid at OT rate, entitlement goes into pot
